A campaign is a message sent directly on WhatsApp to a list of customers: a new item to announce, an offer to push, regulars to reactivate. Where an email ends up in spam, a WhatsApp message gets read.
You are not alone for your campaigns. In practice, when you want to run a marketing campaign, the Chataigne team prepares it with you: we help you write the AI clerk’s instructions, gather and format the right customer files, and create the message templates. We have best practices from every campaign launched so far, and we put them at your service.

The message template: the prerequisite

Without a message template, you cannot create a campaign. The template is the text that will be sent, with customizable variables (the customer’s first name, for example) and a visual if you want one: a mouth-watering photo does half the job. WhatsApp requires that bulk messages use approved templates: every new template goes through Meta validation before it can be used. As a rule, approval takes a few minutes. If the template you need already exists, simply pick it from the list.

Choosing your audience

The audience is chosen based on the campaign you want to run: reactivate customers who have not ordered for two months, announce a new item to your regulars, push an offer to your whole base… You select recipients by importing a CSV file, that is, a list of customers. Your data helps you build that list: it tells you who comes back, who dropped off, who your best customers are.
Opt-in is mandatory. You can only contact for marketing purposes the people who gave their consent to be recontacted, by SMS or WhatsApp. In general, that consent was collected for SMS (loyalty program, kiosk, website) and can be extended to WhatsApp. Without that consent, those people cannot be contacted: they must not be in your file.

The instructions to the AI clerk

The most important point, and the most often forgotten: your customers will reply to the campaign, and the AI clerk is the one handling those replies. So prepare it, with two reflexes:
  • Give it the campaign’s objective. What you are pushing, to whom, why.
  • Anticipate customer reactions. For example, if your message has a quick-reply button “I’m in”, the AI clerk will receive a lot of “I’m in” replies: tell it what to do with them, such as applying the promotion you are pushing right away.

Create a campaign, step by step

1

Create the message template

Write the text (with its variables and optional visual) and submit it for approval, or pick an already-approved template.
2

Create the campaign

Choose the template, and import your audience (CSV).
3

Give the AI clerk its instructions

The campaign’s objective and the reactions to anticipate, so it turns replies into orders.

Tracking the results

Every campaign comes with its data. First, the delivery statuses: And beyond the statuses, you track the campaign’s performance: open rate, campaign cost, conversion rate… Enough to compare your campaigns and sharpen the next ones.
Pair each campaign with a promotion carrying a dedicated code: you will know exactly how many orders the campaign generated.
